But because they don’t come with additional cost to the consumer, the risk that the product does need replacement or repair is entirely borne by the manufacturer or seller. So to summarize: lifetime warranties are ways for manufacturers or sellers to double down on their products’ quality. It rarely means the lifetime of the buyer. The “lifetime” may reference the suggested lifetime of the product (when used as intended), or the time that the product is in production (or some years after that date). (If the limited warranty was for one year, an extended warranty might be for two or three or five.) These are purchased by the consumer for additional cost, and cover everything in the limited warranty as well as wear and tear and power surges.Ī lifetime warranty is a guarantee that a manufacturer will repair or replace any defective parts for their products and comes at no additional cost. They come with no additional cost to the consumer.Īn extended warranty is an optional extension of the term length of the limited warranty. Consumer products are not required by law to have warranties, but if one is given, it must comply with the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act and be clear, fair, and enforceableĪ limited warranty is a guarantee from the manufacturer of the product that the product will work as intended. Let’s go through Warranties 101 :Ī warranty is a guarantee that a product will function as described and intended. What is a lifetime warranty and how are companies able to offer them?įirst off, we need to define some terms. We’ll also cover some newer players who are hopping on the trend. Here, we look at brands that have long offered lifetime warranties as a way to convince customers that their products are a good buy. And it ups customer satisfaction and loyalty. It shows that you, as a retailer, stand by your products, and that you’ve got your customer’s back in case anything goes wrong. Offering a guarantee that a customer is covered if their purchase breaks address another common customer problem. Nowadays, every eComm retailer worth their salt offers some version of free shipping to entice customers to buy.Īnd we expect the same thing to happen with product protection. They started offering the bonus for orders over $99, then dropped it to $49, then $25, and eventually rolled it into other services offered as part of Amazon Prime. In the early 2000s, Amazon basically invented the free shipping game as a way to address a key customer problem: buyers didn’t want to have to pay to get their items to them. We’re calling it now: product protection is the new free shipping.

Lacking any of that, they are effectively dimensionless and the only guidance the standard gives is to choose an “appropriate” size. SVG files either have to explicitly say how big they are, or they have to exist in some context that gives them a scale, such as being embedded in a web page. Unfortunately, there is no standard or default value. I just tried to find docs to support 96 as the standard dpi but didn’t have any luck. (I believe the last paragraph is true I haven’t played around with it since I do everything in Illustrator in a 20x12” artboard.)Įdit: I think I may be totally wrong. When you design a project (which I believe becomes the SVG viewbox) with that particular aspect ratio, it will scale your art to the expected size in the UI. You can scale the vector to any size you want without resolution loss since DPI is irrelevant to vectors, but it still has to create a view - and there can be a different interpretation between programs as to how that view is determined.Īnd if I understand it all correctly, that’s all unless you design on a 20x12” artboard (or 5:3 ratio as determined). When imported, the system interprets 96 DPI as an inch, so your 1 inch box is now. If the default DPI for a design program is, say, 72 DPI, and the program creates the SVG with pixels as the units for the size you designed it at, the output will be off when you import it, since the UI is translating the view on the basis of 96 dpi.įor example, a 1 inch square in a program that has a default DPI of 72 and creates SVG’s with pixel units, will translate your design to a 72 pixel wide/high box. I had the same feelings - and what you’re saying is true - but there is a relationship between DPI and size depending on how the units are being output into SVG. Maybe combine #5 and #6 as a three-choice option: Free transform, proportional sizing, or locked during the upload process. Setting artwork to be proportionally re-sized simultaneously in X and Y axes. Have a toggle setting (during upload) for the artwork to be locked, so the user doesn’t accidentally re-size the artwork while moving it around the cutting surface. Glowforge works exclusively at 96 DPI.Īfter receiving the DPI input, the app could adjust the rulers on the display accordingly. EazyDraw 8.x can export SVG graphics at 72 or 90 DPI. Some vector graphic programs use different resolutions. SVG DPI Adjustment: When uploading artwork for printing, it would really be nice if the app prompted the user for the dots per inch (DPI) used to design the artwork. Second, users that are running a business can use the sheet to detail what’s needed for each project. This helps two ways: the user can go through their inventory with the printed sheet and see what they need to order. Have totals at the bottom for item count and cost. Include columns for item name, size (length, width, thickness), cost, cost per square inch, quantity (user fills in this amount). Or some other similar combination.ĭownloadable Product Price Spreadsheet (electronic form): Put together a simple spreadsheet with current prices for every item available through the store. It is playable and *mostly* bug-free, thanks to the good people in the Taleworlds forum, but it is not quite up to the standards I think a patch should be before it gets released on the Steam Workshop. I'm not restarting work on Gekokujo right now, but I am going to rectify one mistake by linking you to the 3.1 beta patch thread. However, I hadn't expected to suddenly stop working on the mod, so only Taleworlds was left with 3.1 while you got nothing. I released the 3.1 beta patch a long time ago in the same forum, because I wanted a small group of testers to iron out the bugs with the mod before I put it up here - you all only deserve a tight bug-free experience. I announced this in the Taleworlds forum, but not here, modDB, or Nexus. I STOPPED WORK ON THIS MOD A LONG TIME AGO However, the basidia are not always easy to see. The Dacrymycetales have aseptate basidia in the shape of tuning forks. The Tremellales have cruciate-septate basidia (vertically septate, parallel to their direction of growth). The Auriculariales have transversely septate basidia, perpendicular to their direction of growth. The orders can be distinguished from one another by observation of their basidia. However, if you have a microscope, classification of the jelly fungi into these orders is relatively easy, as long as the fruiting bodies are in the proper stages of development. It can sometimes help to use ecology as a character- typically the Auriculariales and Dacrymycetales are good wood-decay fungi, while many of the Tremellales are parasites on other living fungi. It takes some practice to be able to identify the orders using only macroscopic characteristics. However when dried they become very horny (get your mind out of the gutter- I mean hard like a cow's horn.) and do not closely resemble the fresh fruiting body. The Auriculariales are characterized by their typically brown colors and are known for their tough, rubbery consistency. The Dacrymycetales typically are tougher and more orange in color, although there is at least one brown species, Dacryopinax elegans, that can cause major confusion for identifiers. I've already had Tremella mesenterica as Fungus of the Month- you may remember it as Witch's butter. They range in color from brown to yellow and even white. Members of the Tremellales tend to be of a softer texture and more easily "squished" than the other two phyla, although there are exceptions. There are three unrelated orders of fungi that fall under the common name of jelly fungi: Auriculariales (the ear jelly fungi), Tremellales (the jelly fungi), and Dacrymycetales (the tuning fork jelly fungi). It would be good at this point to discuss the many different kinds of jelly fungi. It is easily available in dried form in almost every oriental food store, in specialty food markets, and even in many large grocery stores. However, it certainly can be much larger and tends to grow in subtropical to tropical areas. It seems likely that Auricularia polytricha, cultivated for use in Oriental dishes, is a very close relative or even the same species. Sometime the scientific name is listed as Hirneola auricula. In fact " Auricularia" means ear and the epithet " auricula-judae" means "the ear of Judas." Since the mushroom is particularly prevalent on menus in Oriental restaurants, more preferred names would be the "wood ear mushroom" or the "cloud ear mushroom," Some would consider other translations of the name perjorative, and hence I have not mentioned them here. However the intriguing name has stuck, even with the normally stuffy taxonomists. Obviously someone had an overactive imagination when seeing an ear on a tree and thinking of Judas. If you don't remember your New Testament (or care about it), Judas was the apostle who betrayed Jesus for 30 pieces of silver. The common name Judas's ear comes from the legend that Auricularia formed its ear-shaped fruiting bodies as a curse on the tree on which Judas hanged himself. When you're out in the woods with your friends, it's nice to have a stories to tell, and we hope you will learn much about this fungus on this page. Most of them have the uncanny ability to dry out then rehydrate, and you will likely be able to find them even in the early spring as leftovers from last year, even if you're in the far north. The "jellys" are fun fungi to find in the woods and can be found very soon after a rainfall. Most are more solid than jelly that you spread on bread, with a texture similar to that of Gummi Bears TM. This month's fungus, Auricularia auricula-judae, is one of the jelly fungi.Īll of the jelly fungi are Basidiomycota with unusual jelly-like texture. for the rest of Tom Volk's pages on fungi Tom Volk's Fungus of the Month for April 2004 Tom Volk's Fungus of the Month for April 2004Īuricularia auricula-judae, wood ear or cloud ear mushroom a.k.a. A long string of hits followed through 1992 that also included "I'll Pin A Note On Your Pillow" (1987), "Out Of Sight On My Mind" (1988), "Love Has No Right" (1989), "Till I Can't Take It Anymore" (1989), and Royal's cover of Aaron Neville's "Tell It Like It Is" (1989). Royal later re-emerged as a country star and made his debut on the Country charts in 1985 with the Top 10 hit, "Burned Like A Rocket." This song was the first track on the 1985 album, "Looking Ahead," but the single was pulled by Atlantic Records after the Space Shuttle Challenger disaster of January 28, 1986. Royal other hits also included "Campfire Girls" (1966), the naughty "Cherry Hill Park" (1969), "Tulsa" (1971), and his cover of The Drifters' "Under The Boardwalk" (1978). This smash was followed by a string of other Joe South-penned hits, "I Knew You When" (1965), "I've Got To Be Somebody" (1965), "Heart's Desire" (1966), and "Hush" (1967), the latter of which also became a hit for Deep Purple in 1968. Royal made his debut on the Pop/Rock charts in 1965 with "Down In The Boondocks," which became a Top 10 hit and his signature song. The success of "Down In The Boondocks" also helped him land a spot on the prestigious Dick Clark Caravan of Stars, a package tour that also included Tom Jones, Peter & Gordon, and other top acts. After hearing a demo of the Joe South-penned country-infused rocker, "Down In The Boondocks," Columbia offered Royal a contract and released the song. He also achieved local fame as a member of the house band at the Bamboo Ranch in Savannah where he met and was strongly influenced by such top R&B artists as Sam Cooke. A veteran performer with a career spanning over four decades, he made his mark in both country and pop with his trademark soulful vocals and an intense, dramatic style that combined influences from pop, rock and roll, R&B, and country.īorn in Valdosta, Georgia and raised in Marietta, Royal began his music career in his teens as a regular on The Georgia Jubilee, a radio show that also featured Joe South, Ray Stevens, Jerry Reed, and other Atlanta-based musicians. And then create a "child" dataset within the "Apps" dataset called "Plex". You don't have to nest the Plex dataset under an Apps dataset but doing so means that when you create other datasets for housing config data, having them all under Apps helps keep things nice, neat, and logical.ġ.1 So for Plex, go ahead create a dataset called Apps. I then have a dataset called Apps and finally, a dataset named Plex. Create the Dataset(s) where you'll house metadata and config files for your Jail. $PLUGIN = the name your Plugin and it's associated Jail, if you installed Plex using the offical Plex Plugin.ġ. $JAIL = the name your Plex Jail, if you installed Plex manually. Don't just copy and paste the commands in the guide! My preferred client is PuTTY but there are many great alternatives out there.įor this guide, I'll be using a few variables that you'll have to modify yourself. However, I do recommend the use of an SSH client and if you haven't got one setup already, I highly recommend that you set one up. I've written this guide so that it can be followed using the FreeNAS WebGUI alone and without the use of external software, specifically an SSH client. The new PLex install runs fine but you have a blank slate. You try to trouble shoot it but you just can't find the problem let alone fix it. For example, lets say that your Plex Jail, be it one that you have manually created or one that was created when you installed the Plex Plugin, stops working for some reason. The simple answer is that it makes managing your Plex Jail or Plugin much less of a hassle. why would you want to house your Plex metadata / config on it's own Dataset? then this guide is written with you in mind. If other guides out there are a little over your head at the moment, you don't no your vi from your vim, or you've only just got those pesky permissions working. This guide is aimed at users who are completely new to FreeNAS and / or have little or no experience with FreeNAS, using the command line or even some of the basic commands for Unix like operating systems. No system is perfect.Hi and welcome to my guide to managing your Plex metadata. I'll probably focus on getting lower cost, lower capacity drives to expand at some point in the future. I'm treating it as primarily a media server, and it's been very reliable and kind of awesome. If it's just a media server, it should be fine. If this is your primary data backup system, don't do it. But if you accept that limitation, it's a good system. So to OP's original question: you can't just drop in a new drive and get parity or rebuild parity across all your drives. I see a lot of what I think of as "old male tech" think, with an obsessive focus on technicalities and minutiae instead of listening to user problems. So it's not that I would do things differently, but it would have been nice to understand up front that this system is limited in a way that other NAS systems typically aren't.Īlso, the vitriol that people use in this community is really off-putting. I'm willing to accept this risk though, since I have multiple machines and data is backed up across my network on multiple machines and also to two different cloud services. I can of course set up new vdevs and create redundancy in those, but it's not like having an overarching redundancy strategy. I learned a lot, and it's a great system, especially for free software.īut I do feel a bit stuck / limited in terms of expansion now. I was more focused on getting functionality via plugins and exploring jails and whatnot. I didn't really understand the limitations around vdevs at that moment. I had two 10TB drives which I set up as mirrored in a vdev, as my primary pool. I wish I'd known about the inability to expand a specific vdev before starting my setup. I'm relatively new to TrueNAS (set up my server just two months ago). |
